Behind the Scenes
“This was taken on my visit to Haas Europe, which is in Brussels. This is the showroom where Haas CNC machine tools are available for demonstration to customers. I spent most of the Monday there following the Belgian Grand Prix.
American machine tool manufacturer Haas Automation has its European headquarters strategically located in Brussels, about 150 kilometers west of Spa.”
“Like everyone working in F1, I put a ring around the world every year and I’m lucky enough to see many amazing places. But the place I always come back to is the English lake district, which is where I relax. It has the most breathtaking views and I never get bored of it. I’m delighted with this photo, which was taken on a Christmas walk with my family and our dog Bella. It is the top of Gummers How, which overlooks Lake Windermere.”
“We go to a lot of races around the world and a lot of them have planes flying over which is amazing to see. The Americans of course like to do things differently to Europe and while we were on the grid in Austin, I heard the distinct sound of helicopter blades. When I looked up I was amazed to see not one but five huge choppers coming overhead. It was an incredible sight and the whole grid – drivers, team bosses, celebs, TV crews and the fans in the grandstand all just stared in awe. I was lucky to get my phone out in time to get the picture!”
